10272 Intro to Quilt Making by Machine - 02/12 (12:00 PM - 2:30 PM)

In this six-session course, Charles Johns will take you through the steps to complete a four-block Samples Quilt by machine. While making the sampler he will discuss fabric choices and color.  The students will learn how rotary cut, machine-piece blocks, and finish their top with sashing and borders.  Once the top is completed, Charles will touch on some simple straight-line quilting and finish off with the binding.  

24 1/2" x 6 1/2" or 24 1/2" x 8 1/2" rotary cutting ruler
12" x 12" square ruler
Cutting mat (the class room has mats for the class, but the student will need one at home for homework)
45mm rotary cutter
Scissors for trimming thread
Seam ripper
Paper and pencils for note taking

1/2 yard of muslin to learn and practice rotary cutting
1/2 yard of Focus Fabric (if the student want to use the focus fabric for the outer border, then get a total of 1 1/4 yards)
1/2 yard of 6 coordinating fabrics (the student is not limit to only 3 to 4 fabrics
Charles recommends starting with the focus fabric first, and pair the coordinating fabrics with it.
