10294 Necktie Patchwork - 04/14 (12:00 PM - 3:00 PM)



Learn to use neckties in all your patchwork projects! Whether you are making quilts, throw pillows, bags, etc., using neckties can be a great way to incorporate something personal, while clearing out your closet! In this two-session class, students will learn how to wash, prep, cut, and sew any kind of necktie. 

This class is for intermediate or advanced students, who have experience with sewing patchwork by hand. 

Supplies:
First Class:
Neckties (any kind that is in decent condition)
Small, sharp scissors and/or Seam Ripper
Patchwork templates, or for making your own bring: Graph paper, scissors for cutting paper and plastic, fine point felt pen, and template plastic. 

At home:
Small tub for hand-washing
Woolite or other gentle detergent

Second Class:
Lightweight fusible interfacing (Steinlauf & Stoller)
Fabric Scissors
Blue Washable Marking Pen
Hand Sewing Needles
Applique pins50 wt Thread. Fiber should be the same as tie material (most ties are silk or polyester, so chose silk or polyester threads that blend with tie colors).
